Top 5 Legend Of Zelda Games

Top 5 Legend Of Zelda Games

Oh man this is a tough one! Before I start I just want to remind you that this is “my” Top 5 Legend Of Zelda Games and if you have a difference of opinion, think my list sucks or agree then I would love to read what your top 5 Zelda games are. This is one of my all-time favorite game series and when I first played The Adventure Of Link (yes I played the 2nd one first as a kid for some reason) I was hooked. So with that beings said please enjoy what I consider to be the best of the best when it comes to Zelda games.

Number 5: The Legend Of Zelda

Nintendo Entertainment System

Legend of Zelda 1

I thought I would start with the original Legend Of Zelda. Everyone knows how important this game was. But it still holds up very well to this day. Along with the original NES version, Game Boy Advance, Virtual Console and some rom I have on my phone. I have played this game to death! Even now it offers a fun and simple (by Zelda standards) adventure that I feel just never gets old. While it is still regarded as a very important game in the history of video game I do not think enough people realize just how much of a fun game this is! This is a worthy addition to anyone’s game library and no matter if you have a physical copy or a Virtual Console version this is a game that has to be in your collection.

Number 4: A Link Between Worlds

Nintendo 3DS

Legend of Zelda 3

I fully understand how the A Link Between World was not everyone’s  cup of tea. But to me this is as an accessible Zelda adventure as you are ever going to get! While some people did not like how you could just go and rent any weapons you wanted. Thus taking away the explore a dungeon, find a weapon that is required to kill the boss formula people have come to expect from the series. I still had a lot of fun with this game. The throwback to A Link To The Past was just a lot of fun and while it may have been a little on the easy side. I still think that this is the best hand held, Legend Of Zelda game to be released. For a person new to the series or someone who has struggled to get into Zelda games I feel this game serves as the best way to dip a toe in the world of Zelda!

Number 3: Ocarina Of Time

Nintendo 3DS

Legend of Zelda 2

What? Does that really say Nintendo 3DS? Yes it does, but back in 1998 I stayed up until the wee hours the Christmas I got this game so I have put a ton of time into both versions of the game. And as ground-breaking and incredible as the original Nintendo 64 version was. I feel the enhanced 3DS version is the best way to play this game. Ocarina Of Time is the blue print for how to make a 3D action game. The story is intriguing, the action awesome and the puzzles range from mischievous to just down right hard as nails! The 3DS version has improved the visuals and tightened up a few things in the game play department. Ocarina Of Time is one of those games that is always going to be on a “greatest games of all time” list. And while the original Nintendo 64 version was and still is great. If you want to play this now I have to recommend the 3DS version.

Number 2: Skyward Sword

Nintendo Wii

Legend of Zelda 4

Come on really????? Is what a few of you will be saying, but it’s true. I really do consider, Skyward Sword to be one of the best Zelda games of all time! This was the game that showed how to do motion controls right! Sure the game had a few annoyances (the swimming for example) but for the most part Skyward Sword was an incredible adventure and one that hooked me right from the start. The main reason I loved this game was the story! No other Zelda game has had a bond between Link and Zelda that was so strong right from the start. From the moment Zelda is “missing” because the game has built up the relationship between the two so well, you really are willing to do anything to get her back. There is no “save the princess because it’s the right thing to do” or “its Links destiny” while Zelda needs to be rescued to save the world, it is mainly because Link really does love Zelda he wants to save her and no other game in the series has done this as well as this game. I would go as far to say this is the best game on the Nintendo Wii!

A Link To The Past

Super Nintendo

Legend of Zelda 5

It was really hard to pick between this and Skyward Sword, but I feel that the best (for me!) when it comes to Zelda games is, A Link To The Past. This is a top down adventure game that just has so much content. It was a huge hit and is still a firm favorite with Zelda fans to this day. There is a ton of game play here with plenty of dungeons, ladies to save and monsters to fight. And just when you think you have the game beat. It takes a twist and the real adventure begins. This is just an incredible game and one of those games that I must play through at least once per year. The dungeon design is perhaps the best it is in any Zelda game and the amount of weapons and other things that Link can use is just amazing. A Link To The Past is not only my favorite Zelda game of all time it is also pretty high in my top games of all-time list!
