Ok so this was not exactly “shocking” or unexpected news, but it is still very exciting. Sony accidentally leaked that this collection would be coming out thanks to it being advertised on the Playstation Store. Eagle Eye gamers were able to see it and catch a pic of this before Sony were able to do anything about it. While really not a huge deal, you have to think that Sony would have lied to announce this at E3 2015.
Anyway the cat is out of the bag now and Sony have come forward with some details and a trailer showing off what we can expect when The Nathan Drake collection is released this October. First of all having all three games on one disc is great. The collection will have, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception. But as well as this the games will be given a special coating of that “HD” paint. The games will look better than ever thanks to improved lighting, enhanced character models and better textures as well. All three of the games will also run at a smooth 60 frames per second. The Uncharted series was already a fantastic looking series of games so seeing just how much better they have made it is something I am very interested to see.
The most interesting thing though was that Sony said there would be “gameplay improvements” what the hell this is, is anyone’s guess as it was not elaborated on. Now for me personally I think that gameplay wise, Uncharted 2 and 3 still hold up very well (considering that they are not all that old is not that surprising) however I think much of the attention will be on the first Uncharted game. I loved the original Uncharted when it was released, but the game has not aged as well as the other two and out of the three games I feel this is the one that needs the most attention. I would be surprised if they did not incorporate the touch pad in some fashion in all three of the games, perhaps as a way to select weapons?
There will be no multi-player for the original, Uncharted trilogy. This collection will only allow you to play through the single player adventures. But, Sony have said that those who do pre order the game will also get access to the Uncharted 4 multi-player beta so there is still some multi-player fun to be had here. Sony are offering more pre order bonuses in the Nathan Drake Pack. This will give you two golden guns in a AK47 and a hand gun as well. You will also get different skins for use during the game as well. If you are going digital then they are also throwing in a Nathan Drake theme for your Playstation 4.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is going to be one of the biggest exclusive titles for the Playstation 4. This game is going to be a huge hit for Sony and many people (myself included) cannot wait for this game to be released. But until then I will happily shoot, punch, climb, jump and check out hot chicks during the original Uncharted trilogy.
